BUENA PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Investigators are hoping newly released surveillance video can help catch three men who fatally shot a 24-year-old man Friday at a Buena Park gas station.
Police say Maher Yousef was targeted because he runs a check-cashing business. The killers followed him from the business and then confronted him when he pulled over at the gas station with a flat tire, police said.
They surrounded him, demanded money and searched the car. But he never carried cash from the store, according to his family. There was a struggle and one of the gunmen opened fire.
Yousef's sister Noura said her brother was hard-working and very proud of the business he started building when he was just 17.
"He was so hard-working. He always told me, no matter what you do, don't be lazy," she recalled.
Police and Yousef's family are hoping the public will be able to help identify the violent suspects before another life is lost.
Anyone with information is urged to call Buena Park police.
