ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people are dead and two others were transported to local hospitals after a chase ended in a head-on collision in Anaheim, authorities said.
Orange County sheriff's deputies were in pursuit of a vehicle for a suspected burglary when the fatal collision occurred at Imperial Highway and East River Valley Trail, according to Anaheim police.
According to Anaheim police, the suspects intentionally veered into an oncoming lane in an attempt to evade deputies and tossed a pillowcase filled with laptops and jewelry from the car just before the crash.
The male driver of the suspect vehicle in the chase was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was transported with traumatic injuries, authorities said. A male passenger was transported in full cardiac arrest.
The male passenger in the vehicle being chased by deputies later died.
The driver of the other vehicle, a woman, was transported with minor injuries.
Imperial Highway was closed between Nohl Ranch Road and Hudson Bay while Anaheim police investigated the collision.
