NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A legal battle is brewing between a well-known North Hollywood recording studio and its new neighbor, a CrossFit gym.

Studio operators claim the noise and vibrations from the gym are ruining the recordings of its famous clients.

NRG Recording Services has been at its Weddington Street location for more than two decades. Some of the biggest names in music today, including Kanye West, Jay-Z and Miley Cyrus, use these studios.

Jay Baumgardner, owner of the recording studio, says he noticed "loud booming" from the gym next door.

The two businesses do not share a wall. There is between three to four feet between them, but the studio says the sound still comes through.

"We have to put a stop to this," Baumgardner said. "I can't have this kind of thing going on when people are trying to record."

At Synapse gym, the owners say they're just looking for a solution that can make both parties happy.

"We don't want to be a bad neighbor," said Allison Truscheit, co-owner of CrossFit Synapse. "We definitely want to fix the problem."

Until a compromise is reached, the studio will continue with their lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court.
