P.F. Chang's data breach: Several SoCal restaurants affected
P.F. Chang's on Monday said that a security breach involving credit-and debit-card numbers has been contained and that 33 restaurants were affected.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- P.F. Chang's on Monday said that a security breach involving credit-and debit-card numbers has been contained. The popular restaurant chain has identified 33 restaurants, including 5 in Southern California, that may have been compromised.

The company said that it has been processing credit- and debit-card data securely at all of its locations since June 11, a day after the United States Secret Service alerted the company about the breach.

"Our team, including third-party forensics experts, has been working continuously to understand the nature and scope of the incident. This investigation is ongoing," P.F. Chang's CEO Rick Federico said in a statement.

Federico said the stolen information includes the card number, and in some cases, also the cardholder's name and/or the card's expiration date.

Van Nuys resident Alex Davis, who works as a server in the food industry, said he was a victim of the breach.

"Financially, it was definitely a big impact, because it takes the banks some time. You have to dispute the charges," Davis said.

The Scottsdale-based company owns 211 full-service P.F. Chang's restaurants nationwide. Local restaurants affected by the breach include those in Torrance, Temecula, Sherman Oaks, Rancho Cucamonga and Newport Beach.
