LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Our ABC7 Cool Kid for Thursday, March 5, is Elias Esparza, who wants to help out kids who are being bullied and has written a book about his own experiences.

The book is called "The Tell of Me."

"I hope this will work and I hope someone like me can at least tell them something that they need to hear that will help them," he said.

He added that he was treated badly and suffered name-calling when he was bullied. The experience frustrated him and that is what inspired him to write a book.

Elias, 16, has aided others using techniques that helped him get through the ordeal of abuse. But he said there are other people who can help a child who is being bullied, too.

"There's a chapter in the book that talks about [parental involvement]. Talk to him, you know, be more in his life. Don't let him just go it on his own," he said.

The Summit High School student is passionate about his efforts to combat and address the growing problem of bullying. He is doing just that with the power of his words.
