Cool Kid Rachel Baca brings smiles to families during difficult times

CHINO HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- Our ABC7 Cool Kid for Thursday, May 15, is 17-year-old Rachel Baca.

The Ayala High School senior has been volunteering at the Let It Be Foundation for six years. The nonprofit helps families with a child diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses, such as cancer.

"We try to make their lives as normal as possible again," Rachel said. "We're really there for the whole family, which is what separates us from a lot of other organizations... [We] support them and love them through their journey."

Rachel says the best part of her experience with the Let It Be Foundation is bringing a smile to the children's faces.

"Just seeing them forget about the fact that they're sick, or even if they've just come home from the hospital, to see them forget about all of that and have fun with us," she said.
