LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Garth Brooks is happily out of his self-imposed retirement with the release of his new album "Man Against Machine." And after selling out dozens of venues with his new tour, he says 2014 is a year to remember.

"Compared to doing dad duties, I feel like I'm on vacation, this is a pretty sweet gig," he said. "To put your toe in the water, announce a tour and hope people show up , and then see them show up in these numbers and with these attitudes, it was probably one of the greatest feelings I ever got, as far as just being flattered and humbled and feeling very, very lucky."

Brooks says it was easy to slip back in to performer mode.

"If you have been to a Garth show, you know I'm the guy that works the least during the show. You guys sing more than I do, and you dance more than I do, and it's fabulous just to sit and watch. And the big difference, though, between touring then and touring now has to be Miss Yearwood," Brooks said.

His wife, Trisha Yearwood, is part of his world tour.

"She makes life fun. The other 20 hours of the day you're usually on tour you're trying to figure out how to kill that time, now you're enjoying it with the love of your life and I don't know how it gets better than this," he said.

The big question for Southern California fans is whether this tour is ever coming to the Southland.

"Well here's the thing, in our time off, we played four cities. And one of them was Los Angeles for the Southern California Wildfire Tribute, so those four cities got pushed to the end of the tour simply because we don't want to wear out our welcome," he said. "You can't have a world tour without Los Angeles, are you kidding me? That's a phenomenal place to play."

So it seems for Garth Brooks fans, patience is key.
