'Inside Out' review: Adorable, enjoyable animated film
The new animated film 'Inside Out' looks inside your head, but fills your heart. The perfect cast and colorful characters make the film fun.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- "Inside Out" is enjoyable and adorable.

Amy Poehler leads the voice cast in the animated family film: she's Joy. Phyllis Smith is Sadness, Lewis Black is Anger, Mindy Kaling is Disgust and Bill Hader plays Fear. Together, they make up the emotions inside the mind of a girl named Riley.

Poehler is perfect as the group's leader and Smith is sensational at sounding sad.

"Inside Out" is one of those animated movies adults should enjoy because it's well-done, it's clever and it's pretty funny! I'm sure the idea of all these emotions connected to the brain of a prepubescent girl may, at times, go over some young kids' heads. I'm also sure it won't matter because it's visual and vibrant, playful, even powerful.

Director Pete Docter told me if you want a funny movie, you hire funny people. All of the main characters are comedians and I think that makes a difference in the overall product. For people like Lewis Black, punchlines are second nature.

"Inside Out" is rated PG and is in theaters now.

Disney is the parent company of ABC7.
