LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An arrest warrant was issued for former "Scandal" actor Columbus Short after he failed to show up in criminal court Wednesday.

Short failed to show up for a hearing in his domestic violence case. Short's wife was asking the judge for more protection from the actor after he allegedly choked her and threatened to kill her with a knife during a fight.

Since Short failed to show up, the judge issued a bench warrant. His bail was set at $60,000.

The actor was fired from "Scandal" in April due to his pending legal troubles. Short's movie credits include "Stomp The Yard," "The Losers" and "Accepted."
