LOS ANGELES -- It's over! Actress and singer Katharine McPhee, best known for the NBC show "Smash," has filed for divorce from estranged husband Nick Cokas after six years of marriage.

McPhee, 30, and Cokas, 49, have no children. This was the first marriage for the star, who was in October seen in paparazzi photos kissing married "Smash" director Michael Morris, who has a family with wife and actress Mary McCormack. She has not commented on them. McPhee and Cokas had split months before the scandal, People had reported.

"After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for a dissolution of marriage from Nick Cokas," the actress said in a statement to the outlet on Thursday, May 22. "The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. They ask that people respect their privacy during this time."

In March, paparazzi photos showed the couple together in Los Angeles, where they own a home, walking their three dogs, including a pair of Chihuahuas.

As for Morris and McCormack -- the two have reportedly reconciled.

McPhee rose to fame after placing second on season 5 of "American Idol" and played aspiring Broadway performer Karen Cartwright on "Smash," which was filmed in New York and ended its two-season run in 2013. She can be seen next in the CBS drama series "Scorpion," which premieres this fall.
