'Life of Crime' puts twist on kidnapping
The 1978 Elmore Leonard novel, 'The Switch,' is now a new movie called 'Life of Crime,' starring Jennifer Aniston, Tim Robbins and Will Forte.

The 1978 Elmore Leonard novel, "The Switch," is now a new movie called "Life of Crime."

Jennifer Aniston is the leading lady and plays the victim of a kidnapping. Her husband, played by Tim Robbins, is a corrupt, philandering drunk who secretly filed for divorce and isn't interested in paying her million dollar ransom.

"We meet her as this trophy wife, as Tim's character says, she with no voice, not even an awareness of how to sort of get out of this emotional jail," Aniston said. "The beauty of this kidnapping is that's her 'get out of jail free' card."

Aniston's character becomes intrigued by one of her kidnappers played by John Hawkes.

"A lot of that's in the book and screenplay, but I think a lot of it she and I and the director, Daniel Schechter, massaged together," Hawkes said.

Another part of this mix is Will Forte, who plays a married man infatuated by Aniston's character.

"She is a wonderful actress, first of all. She makes you feel incredibly comfortable. She's a great person and the script was an incredibly written script," Forte said.

Aniston was also an executive producer on the film.

"This, for me, is exciting because I'm getting involved on the producer level where you can actually bring this to life from the ground up," Aniston said.

The film opens in theaters Friday.
