Stars tap into emotions in new animated comedy 'Inside Out'
Emotions are brought to life in the animated world with the new Disney/Pixar comedy 'Inside Out.'

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Amy Poehler leads the cast of the new Disney/Pixar animated comedy "Inside Out." But she can't do it alone! She gets plenty of help from people who make their livings making us laugh: Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, and Phyllis Smith.

They voice the emotions swirling around inside the mind of a little girl named Riley.

Kaling is the voice of "Disgust."

"I'm not someone who you think of and you're like, 'oh, unmitigated joy and positivity!'" said Kaling. "And I've never been in a movie that has this much poignancy. I was even surprised."

Hader is the voice of "Fear."

"You know, it's not pandering or anything," said Hader. "It's very honest and sometimes that honesty can be kind of uncomfortable and I really love that Pixar takes those chances."

Smith is voicing the role of "Sadness."

"I was very happy to be Sad," said Smith. "She's just meandering through the mind and not really paying attention to much."

Black represents "Inside Out's" "Anger."

"As I've said through most of my life, if I wasn't going to have children of my own, I was going to screw up other people's kids!" joked Black. "And this is my final revenge."

"Inside Out" is rated PG and is in theaters Friday.
