Wendi McLendon-Covey doubles up on the laughs with two ABC series
Fan favorite Wendi McLendon-Covey loves being a sitcom mom. She says she's living an actor's dream by having two comedies on ABC.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The name Wendi McLendon-Covey is synonymous with comedy. From years of improv to "Reno 911" to "Bridesmaids," she knows exactly how to get a laugh. And lately, she's been doing that on two ABC shows.

McLendon-Covey is wrapping up her second season on "The Goldbergs" as Beverly, everyone's favorite, if slightly overbearing mother. The character has struck a chord with viewers.

"I would say the best experience is when women come up to me and say 'my kids call me Bev', because I embarrass them, but I'm not sorry," said McLendon-Covey.

The pretend world of "The Goldbergs" sometimes bleeds into real life, and McLendon-Covey says she just can't help but feel a "motherly vibe" when it comes to her young co-stars.

"I feel very connected to these kids," she admitted. "And I have to stop myself from saying, 'Should you be eating that?' or, 'Get off of Facebook! Do you know what time it is?'"

McLendon-Covey is performing double duty in prime-time right now. She also hosts the improv comedy show "Repeat After Me."

"It's a good way for people who aren't necessarily known as being funny to be hilarious," said McLendon-Covey. "For instance, did you know Michael Bolton was a kick in the pants? He was great on 'Repeat After Me'. Josh Groban will knock your socks off!"

Whether she's feeding funny lines to others or standing up for her television family, the busy actress is having the time of her life making us laugh.

"I worked my butt off, I will say that," said McLendon-Covey. "Nothing came easy, but I am very happy to be where I am at and I do not take it for granted."

"The Goldbergs" airs at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights on ABC. "Repeat After Me" airs at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights on ABC.
