Dietician reveals what women need to eat
When it comes to sitting down to a good meal, there are some things women should be eating that can make a difference.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- When it comes to sitting down to a good meal, there are some specific things women should be eating that can make a difference in how she feels.

When a woman feels stressed or cranky, some magnesium may help.

"Magnesium is really important for women. It's our anti-stress, so it actually goes into our cells and makes sure that stress response isn't happening all the time," said Ashley Koff, a dietician.

Koff says that's not to say we won't get stressed, but when you are, magnesium works in all of our cells as a natural relaxant. Eating foods that contain it, like pumpkin seeds, artichokes, spinach, almonds and beans, and supplementing can be a big help.

If you don't have hemp seeds in your life, consider sprinkling a bit on your oatmeal or salad. Koff says GLA, or gammalinoleic fatty acid, is one great beauty aid, helping to keep skin and nails healthy.

And while we get teased about chocolate, keep it in your diet. A one-ounce serving of a good dark chocolate with the cacao still intact helps lower blood pressure and won't raise bad cholesterol, plus it also contains magnesium.
