LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- State Senator Ed Hernandez (D-Azusa) introduced a bill Thursday that could increase the legal smoking age from 18 to 21.

Senate Bill 151 is likely to face opposition from tobacco companies who have become major players in Sacramento.

Hernandez hopes it will be harder for teens to get their hands on cigarettes if the bill is signed into law.
