SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KABC) -- A San Clemente-based company is recalling its jarred and canned food products because of a risk of botulism contamination.

The California Director of Public Health warned the public Wednesday not to eat the products, after two cases of suspected food-borne botulism infections were linked to VR Green Farms' Pine Nut Basil Pesto.

VR Green Farms is recalling its Pine Nut Basil Pesto, Pickled Farm Mix, Old World Tomato Sauce, Sundried Tomatoes in Olive Oil, Tuscan Grilling Sauce and Pasta Sauce. The products are sold in Mason-style glass jars with screw-on metal lids.

Products were bought at VR Green Farms stand in San Clemente and over the internet.

Eating the botulism toxin can lead to serious illness and death. Symptoms may include double or blurred vision, drooping eyelids and dry or sore throat. Paralysis may also follow.

Those who have purchased these products should double bag the cans in plastic bags and place them in the trash.
