Snow season kicks off in Southern California
It's time to grab your skis and snowboards! Snow Summit officially opened for business on Wednesday.

BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (KABC) -- It's time to grab your skis and snowboards! Snow Summit officially opened for business on Wednesday.

Ticket windows at Snow Summit opened at 8 a.m. and lifts started running at 8:30 a.m.

Chris Riddle with Big Bear Mountain Resorts said there is about a 10-24-inch base, making for great conditions for snow sport lovers of all skill levels.

Some of the runs at Snow Summit are expected remain open seven days a week for the next few months.

Mountain High Resort opened Tuesday and will remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. According to its website, the recent cold temperatures made for great snow-making conditions at the resort.

Bear Mountain is expected to open on Friday for weekends only until Dec. 12.
