EAGLE ROCK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Firefighters made quick work of a small brush fire that broke out Thursday evening near Occidental College in Eagle Rock.

The 2-acre blaze was reported about 9:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of Campus Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. There were no reports of injuries or structural damage.

The flames burned south of the college's amphitheater and a public pool before a series of water drops from a fire helicopter doused most of the active flames.

The 91 firefighters assigned to the incident initially faced challenges reaching the fire, located in the hilly area near Eagle Rock High School. The blaze was extinguished within about 1 hour and 20 minutes, the LAFD said, and a mop-up operation was underway.

The cause of the fire was unknown.
