WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A crash between a Maserati and a Honda left one woman dead and at least two others injured in Westwood on Saturday.

The crash happened two blocks east of Beverly Glen. The impact from the crash killed the driver of the Honda, a woman in her 50s who was with her husband and daughter.

The husband was in the back seat and suffered broken ribs.

"The Maserati, heading westbound, right before impact, for some reason that we do not know at this time, veered sharply to the left into eastbound lanes," said LAPD Sgt. Mark Guardado.

Police say the man driving the Maserati is in his late 50s to early 60s and lives near the scene of the crash. He was not under the influence of alcohol, police said. He had minor injuries.

The collision happened just a few feet from where Salma Hayek's brother swerved and hit a pickup truck in February 2013. That crash killed Hayek's passenger.

It is unknown if the driver in the Maserati was speeding around the bend. Police say speed is often a factor in crashes on that stretch of Sunset Boulevard.

"People here, they don't take into consideration the downhill slope, and in order to go uphill, they usually use more than enough speed to get up that hill, which contributes to our accidents that we have on Sunset Boulevard," said Guardado.

The driver of the Maserati has not been cited. The name of the woman killed has not been released.

Eastbound traffic was expected to be detoured into early morning hours.
