It was party time at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul, Minnesota for one special little orangutan.

Kemala the orangutan celebrated her 1st birthday Thursday, and the tiny one enjoyed some juice and cake.

But the real fun came when she was allowed to play with the birthday decorations. She wrapped herself in streamers, rolled around the enclosure and shared her toys with the other orangutans.

Kemala is a Sumatran orangutan, which is one of two orangutan species and is native to the island of Sumatra in Indonesia.

There are less than 6,600 of the species left in Sumatra and 54,000 left in Borneo, according to the Sumatran Orangutan Society. The cause for the species decline is the harvesting of materials in tropical rainforests and babies being taken away from their mothers to be sold as pets.
