PLACENTIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two men and a police officer suffered injuries when a fire broke out at a garage in Placentia.

The one-alarm fire was reported in the 100 block of Primrose Avenue shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The blaze was knocked down quickly.

Officials said two men, 30 and 36 years old, were transported to the burn center at UC Irvine with serious burns. The officer was being treated for smoke inhalation.

Officers who were first to reach the scene said one of the victims was seen sitting on the driveway outside the garage and the second was running down the street.

Detectives said they're treating this as a crime scene but would not elaborate.

Bomb squad and hazmat crews were called in after firefighters reported hearing popping noises when they first arrived.
