SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) --A search was suspended for a reported missing swimmer in the waters near the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, witnesses said they spotted a person jumping off the pier at about 3 a.m.
A person hanging onto the railing at the pier and was later rescued by a lifeguard, reported seeing someone hanging onto the pier before disappearing.
Rescue boats, remote-operated drones, fire department and lifeguard helicopters and teams of divers were all in an hourslong search for the swimmer before the suspension.
No further details were immediately available.
