NORWALK, Calif. (KABC) --An investigation into a suspicious package at the Norwalk-Santa Fe Springs Metrolink station temporarily stopped train service in the area on Thursday.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies said the object, which was left on a platform, was reported around 6:30 a.m. The situation was deemed safe around 10 a.m. and normal service resumed shortly thereafter.
The lines affected included the Orange County line from Los Angeles to Oceanside and the line between Riverside and Los Angeles.
Metrolink officials also canceled Ventura County line 905 to Burbank, and passengers were advised to take Ventura County line 907.
Buses were called in to assist passengers as necessary.
According to Metrolink spokesman Scott Johnson, approximately 2,000 passengers from Orange County will be transported on trains through an alternate route, which runs through Riverside, to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.
