SUN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) --Dozens of vehicles were engulfed in flames after a fire broke out at a recycling yard in Sun Valley Sunday afternoon.
More than 100 vehicles were well involved when the fire erupted at the location in the 9100 block of Tujunga Avenue shortly before 4 p.m., according to the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
In just under an hour, the blaze was determined to be a major emergency fire, and approximately 100 firefighters responded to the scene, officials said.
Fire officials declared the stubborn blaze a knockdown shortly before 6:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles City Fire Department's Twitter page.
Thick black smoke was seen growing above the yard from miles away.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
