Man accused of smashing car into wife's Santa Ana workplace
Shortly after he was released from Santa Ana jail, a man allegedly drove his car through the store where his wife works.

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man who was arrested for a domestic violence incident apparently wasn't deterred by a night in Santa Ana Jail, as police say within hours of his release he drove to his wife's workplace and smashed his car through the window.

No one was hurt in the incident, but the man's wife - the only person in the business at the time - was so shaken up that she was brought to a local hospital, police said.

The incident began Monday night after Santa Ana officers responded to the 3900 block of W. 5th Street on a domestic violence call. They arrested Jose Felix Franco, 25, for malicious mischief and booked him into the Santa Ana Jail.

An emergency restraining order was obtained and served on Franco while he was still in jail.

But police say that immediately after he was released from jail at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, Franco drove to the Fresca Agua baby nutrition store where his wife works on South Harbor Boulevard. Officers were called for the restraining order violation and he fled.

But then, police allege, Franco returned to the store by 10:25 a.m. and intentionally rammed his vehicle through the front of the business, smashing through the window and damaging merchandise inside.

Franco fled the scene on foot, but was caught a few blocks away. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon.
