HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Music mogul Russell Simmons hosted the first ever All Def town hall discussion on reforming the criminal justice system and reducing the prison population Thursday night.

The event, held in Hollywood, comes on the same day another Baltimore police officer was acquitted in the Freddy Gray case.

Simmons' event has opened up a dialogue between the Black Lives Matter protesters and the police officers they sometimes protest.

Simmons said this is only the beginning of the conversation and he'll be hosting more town halls soon.
