Metrolink station reopens after train fatally strikes person in Montebello
Multiple streets in Montebello were shut down Friday morning after a person was run over and killed by a freight train, Montebello police said.

MONTEBELLO, Calif. (KABC) -- Multiple streets in Montebello were shut down Friday morning after a person was run over and killed by a freight train, Montebello police said.

The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Montebello and Olympic boulevards, according to authorities.

Officials were investigating whether the crash was a suicide.

Several streets, including Montebello Boulevard, Greenwood, Maple and Vail avenues, were temporarily closed between Olympic Boulevard and Mines Avenue but were later reopened Friday morning.

Metrolink officials stated in a tweet RIV Line trains were not going to stop at the Montebello station, but the tracks were cleared and reopened to travelers around 5:40 a.m.

No other details were released.
