WEST COVINA, Calif. (KABC) --The body of a 27-year-old man who was reported missing in West Covina earlier this week has been discovered in Azusa Canyon, and another man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the case, authorities announced Sunday.
An investigation led police detectives, L.A. County sheriff's deputies and the San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team to a remote area where Rahkeem Amani Reyes was found deceased at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, six days after he disappeared, the West Covina Police Department said in a statement.
It was not immediately clear how Reyes died.
His family had previously made an emotional plea for the public's help in finding the professional dancer, whose nickname was "Rocky."
Philip Von Wade, 20, was being held on $1 million bail in connection with Reyes' death, according to the news release.
Authorities did not describe the circumstances that led to Wade's arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Pomona Superior Court on Monday.
The victim, a resident of Alta Loma, was last seen at about 5:40 p.m. Monday, police said. Later that evening his wallet and laptop were found inside of his unoccupied vehicle, which was idling in the 1500 block of Mcwood Street in West Covina.
"I know somebody saw something somewhere," his mother, Dalia Reyes, said Friday. "Somebody knows something out there. Please, please, please. I beg everybody, please."
