A person was arrested by police after six people were stabbed, two critically, early Saturday morning at a house party in Pasadena, authorities said.

Officers were summoned at 3:10 a.m. to a home in the 3000 block of California Boulevard, where the festivity was held after widespread discussion on social media, said Lt. Vasken Gourdikian of the Pasadena Police Department.

The stabbings left two people in critical condition, according to the lieutenant. Four others suffered moderate injuries but were expected to recover.

The incident began as a verbal argument that led to pushing and shoving before culminating in the stabbings, police said.

Authorities said Aaron Hong Te, 21, of San Gabriel, was arrested for attempted murder and booked at the Pasadena city jail.

Based on eyewitness accounts, officers identified a suspect and took that person into custody without incident, Gourdikian said.
