OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Four suspects were detained after a 16 year old was shot in Oxnard.

Officers said they observed a confrontation in front of a business near Cooper Road and McKinley Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said it appeared two people were confronting another group. One of the two people pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the group.

The two then fled to a car waiting nearby, and a short police chase began. Officers stopped the suspects near Donlon Avenue and Driffil Boulevard. The suspects bailed on-foot.

Police eventually apprehended Carlos Guzman, 19, Enrique Castellanos, 22, German Librado, 20 and Diego Guerrero, 27, all from Oxnard. A loaded handgun was recovered in the area where the suspects were detained, police said.

Police believed a fifth suspect remained at large and searched the area with the help of a helicopter. That person was not located.

The 16-year-old victim showed up at Ventura County Medical Center a couple hours after being shot, police said. He suffered two non-life threatening gunshot wounds to his upper body.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at (805) 486-6506, or Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
