3 suspects on the run after Torrance 'takeover' robbery

TORRANCE, Calif. (KABC) -- Three suspects are on the loose after a takeover robbery at CalCom Federal Credit Union in Torrance on Tuesday.

Authorities responded to the 20700 block of Hawthorne Boulevard at 11:40 a.m. Torrance police say three suspects walked inside the business and ordered everyone to the ground.

One suspect fired a shot into the ceiling, while another suspect forced an employee into the vault and grabbed money from inside.

The suspects then fled in a blue sedan, which was later found dumped in an alley about a mile away. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Los Angeles.

Police say the duration of the robbery was only about five minutes. No injuries were reported.

The FBI and the Torrance Police Department are investigating. Suspect descriptions were not available.
