SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspected drug dealer was shot in South Los Angeles after pulling a gun on sheriff's deputies in an alley Sunday. His medical condition remains unknown.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Main and 118th streets around 3:40 a.m.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies from the Century Station were allegedly given information that the suspect was in an alleyway and believed to be armed.

Investigators say the suspect, who was known to sell narcotics, pulled out a gun and pointed it at a deputy who tried to approach him. The deputy fired back, hitting the suspect in the stomach.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital. No deputies were injured in the shooting.

A similar incident took place Saturday morning. An armed man, later identified as Alberto Cornelio Morales, reportedly fired at deputies in two separate shootouts in Walnut Park. A deputy was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and Morales was killed.
