Rescuers found an 18-month-old baby girl in her car seat. The baby's mother was dead in the driver's seat.

CNN's Carly Figueroa reported the baby's 25-year-old mother, Lynn Jennifer Groesbeck, was traveling from her parents' home in Salem, Utah, when she veered off the road. Her family did not know she didn't arrive at her destination.

By estimates, the car crashed some 14 hours before it was found.

The baby remains in critical condition at a local hospital. It's unclear whether the baby was covered by water, which was apparently frigid. Seven of the rescuers were treated at a hospital for hypothermia.
