PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A graduation ceremony turned into chaos in Pasadena after a swarm of bees crashed the event.
The incident occurred Wednesday evening at Pasadena High School during the Sierra Madre Middle School graduation ceremony.
Authorities said a bee hive in a sprinkler vault somehow became disturbed and the bees went on the attack. The fire department was called and crews sprayed foam to control the situation.
"I think I probably got stung over a dozen times here, in my hair, couldn't get them out. Had the bees buzzing in my ears and all throughout my neck and all over my hands," said Kristin Fernandez, who was at the ceremony.
Five people were evaluated for stings, including a firefighter. They're all expected to be OK.
