Big rig crashes into sign on 210 East in La Crescenta

LA CRESCENTA-MONTROSE, Calif. (KABC) -- A big rig crashed into a freeway sign on the eastbound 210 in La Crescenta Tuesday night, forcing the closure of several lanes.

The 10-wheeler was hauling gravel from a nearby construction site when the crash happened around 11 p.m. near Pennsylvania Avenue. The driver was not injured.

"The truck actually overturned on its side, dumped a load of gravel," said Shawn Silva with Caltrans. "The sign is completely destroyed. They'll actually put up an entirely new structure that meets the new current standards."

Some vehicles that were parked underneath the overpass for Pennsylvania Avenue were damaged by debris from the crash.
