GLENDALE, Ohio (KABC) -- Incredible body cam video shows a police officer shooting a man who was armed with a knife in Glendale, Ohio.
The video shows the moments after Glendale Officer Joshua Hilling stops a man walking down busy Interstate 75 on March 29. The man did not want to be searched and yells that he wants to die, lunging at Hilling with a knife.
Hilling shot the suspect once in the abdomen. Over the next several minutes, the officer faced off with the man who was still holding a large hunting knife.
"Just stop, just stop," Hilling yelled at one point.
Finally, another officer arrived and put the suspect down with a Taser, taking the man into custody.
Ohio police learned the man walking along the freeway was Javier Aleman, a suspect in a fatal stabbing in Baltimore, and the knife was the murder weapon.
Officer John Hilling was praised by his chief and prosecutors for his actions and his restraint in a very difficult situation.
Aleman is being held on an attempted murder charge stemming from his confrontation with the officer.
