NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A California Highway Patrol officer opened fire after a man and a woman allegedly tried to ram his vehicle in North Hollywood.

The shooting occurred near Whitsett Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard shortly before 11 p.m. Friday. No one was hurt.

Police say after failing to yield, the man driving a white Mercedes-Benz almost hit the officer's car.

The CHP officer fired at the vehicle, but missed. After the shooting, a search was conducted nearby.

The male suspect, later identified as Melvin Anthony Slaughter Jr., 43, of Northridge was found hiding. He was taken into custody after authorities initiated canine contact.

The female suspect was also found nearby. She was detained without incident.

Robbery homicide is investigating the incident, police said.
