SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A dangerous police chase of a suspect in a red Ford Explorer ended peacefully in Sherman Oaks Friday.

The male suspect was taken into custody after abruptly stopping at Hazeltine and Moorpark Street at about 5:40 p.m.

Authorities say the chase began in Chino. Officers responded to a call from Kohl's around 4:38 p.m. at the Chino Spectrum Towne Center for a possible forgery investigation.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect fled, leading police on a chase through multiple cities in Southern California.

At one point during the chase, a man came out and threw something at the vehicle, damaging the SUV. From that point, the pursuit continued on for about another 30 minutes.

The suspect has not been identified.
