LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An L.A. deputy city attorney was ordered to register as a sex offender for life Tuesday after pleading no contest to a child pornography possession charge.

Christopher Garcia, 57, was placed on probation for five years and will lose his law license. Garcia was also ordered to receive sex-offender counseling.

LAPD investigators served Garcia with a search warrant at his San Pedro residence in November 2013, where child pornography images were found on his computer, the L.A. District Attorney's Office said.

Garcia was charged in September. Garcia was placed on administrative leave when the city attorney's office first became aware of the allegations, according to the director of community engagement and outreach for the city attorney's office.
