WESTMINSTER, Calif. (KABC) -- A truck driver was arrested for DUI after a setting off a chain-reaction accident that nearly killed a Westminster woman.

Authorities say a van was waiting to make a left turn onto Palomar Street at about 8:30 p.m. when it was rear-ended by a truck. The van lost control and slammed into a garage in the 2500 block of Trask Avenue.

Julia Gold says she was in the garage just moments earlier doing laundry when she heard a loud noise.

"I was about three steps out of the garage when it hit. I didn't know if anybody was killed, so I went in the house and called 911," Gold said.

Two children and one adult who were in the van were rushed to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was booked for a felony DUI.
