ORANGE, Calif. -- An elderly man was found dead in a house fire in Orange Monday morning amid hoarding conditions.

Thirty Orange City Fire Department firefighters responded to the one-story house fire located at 264 N. Citrus Street at 8:13 a.m. Monday. The fire was controlled within 15 minutes, according to the department.

Residents told firefighters everyone was out of the building; the victim was not discovered for about another hour due to hoarding conditions, the department said.

The victim, who was described as an elderly male, was renting a room at the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
