Hero officers stops wrong-way driver
A Texas officer put his cruiser - and life - in the path of a speeding wrong-way driver.

CONROE, Texas -- A Texas police officer is being heralded for putting his police cruiser and life in the path of a speeding wrong-way driver.

Dash cam video shows the suspect stop just in time as Shenandoah Police Sgt. Gary Sharpen prepared for impact last Friday night on I-45 near Conroe.

"Those people were complete strangers to me, and knowing this guy was as reckless and as dangerous as he was, he needed to be stopped one way or another," said Sharpen. "If I'm put in that position again, I think I'll do the same."

After that, the driver turned around and fled. The suspect lead multiple agencies on a high speed chase before the car was finally stopped.

Two small children, ages 18 months and 4 years old, were found sitting inside the vehicle. They were rescued unharmed.
