Hiker assaulted, critically injured on Griffith Park trail

GRIFFITH PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A male hiker was hoisted from Griffith Park after being critically injured in an assault on a trail Monday afternoon.

The unidentified male hiker was assaulted on a hiking trail at 2:32 p.m., according to the LAPD.

Police and fire crews responded to the scene, near Fern Dell and Red Oak drives.

The hiker was hoisted from the trail by a helicopter and was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in critical condition.

No further details were immediately released.
