BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- A wild pursuit of a suspect accused of kidnapping his girlfriend ended in Burbank on Friday, when the suspect was caught inside a theater.

The 21-year-old man was accused of kidnapping his girlfriend Thursday. She managed to escape in Sun Valley and call police the next morning.

The boyfriend fled, leading police on a pursuit all the way to a Burbank parking structure. He ran into the Colony Theatre in Burbank Town Center, which was closed at the time.

"I was scared, because a lot of police cars were here," Sylmar resident Margarita Filaretova said.

"I just came out of the Y(MCA) and there were cops all around. I saw about more than 30 of them here," witness Kristin Leuschner said.

At about noon, police found the suspect and took him into custody. No weapons were found, Burbank Police Sgt. Adam Cornils said.

Despite the scare, the show will go on at the Colony Theatre Friday night.

"He didn't get anywhere near the stage or near anything that affects the performance, so we're very happy," said Barbara Beckley with the theater company. "The show will go on."
