Man shot walking home in La Puente; suspects sought

LA PUENTE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man who was walking home in La Puente was shot in the leg and back by two suspects who remain at large.

The shooting happened on the 900 block of Le Borgne Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Deputies said two suspects described as Hispanic males approached the victim and opened fire. Authorities said the two men took off in a dark colored Honda Civic.

The victim was taken by family members to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was expected to survive.

What led to the shooting remains unclear, but investigators said the incident does not appear to be gang related.
