Man stabbed, injured in Ventura; suspect sought

VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed and injured a 20-year-old man in Ventura Monday night.

The incident happened around 11:58 p.m. on the 5900 block of Telegraph Road. The victim, whose identity was not released, was walking along Telegraph Road when a man approached him and inquired about his gang affiliation.

Police say as the victim responded, the suspect pulled out a knife and started attacking the victim. The suspect then got into the passenger side of a gray SUV, which fled eastbound.

Officers searched the area, but they didn't find the suspect. The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center to be treated for lacerations to his nose and chest.
