Marijuana, methamphetamine, ammunition seized at Pomona home

POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- Approximately 150 pounds of marijuana and other items were seized when a Pomona house was raided by police.

Pomona police received a call about a possible marijuana cultivation operation in the 300 block of East Bonita Avenue on Sunday. When officers arrived on scene, they found several large marijuana plants growing in the back yard of the location.

According to authorities, the person living in the home began destroying the marijuana plants as officers were conducting their investigation. That's when officers secured the location until a search warrant was brought to the scene.

When the warrant arrived, officials scoured the location and found 150 pounds of marijuana, several ounces of methamphetamine, miscellaneous possible stolen property and a large amount of ammunition.

The resident who tried to destroy the marijuana plants was identified as 40-year-old Gary Lewis. He was booked at the Pomona City Jail with a $30,000 bail pending his court date.
