New York teen held captive in Inland Empire, raped for several days; suspect arrested
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A Victorville man was arrested for allegedly luring a 16-year-old girl from New York to California and sexually assaulting her over the course of several days.
According to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, 49-year-old Buck Wylde Murphy met the teen on social media. Authorities said he arranged and paid for her travel. Officials described the teen as a runaway.
Once she arrived in California, investigators said Murphy held the girl against her will and sexually assaulted her over the span of five days.
Detectives located the girl and Murphy in his RV in Apple Valley on Feb. 26. Murphy was arrested and booked on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment, rape, child abduction and internet contact for lewd acts.
He is being held at the High Desert Detention Center on $1 million bail.
