Off-duty Long Beach police officer killed in crash

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- An off-duty Long Beach police officer was killed in an accident on the 710 Freeway in the city of Paramount Wednesday night.

Authorities say the crash happened on the northbound 710 Freeway at Rosecrans Avenue at 7:22 p.m. The officer's name has not been released.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2014 Corvette was seen traveling over 100 mph just before the crash. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control, and the Corvette struck the center divider, went across all lanes, went off the roadway and overturned several times.
