OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Oxnard Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed a man near 1st and Navarro Sunday night.

Oxnard officers responded to a call at 1st and Navarro streets at about 5:35 p.m. and found evidence of an altercation and received witness information about a stabbing.

Officers located a 46-year-old Oxnard resident in the back yard of a vacant residence near the scene. The man had been stabbed in the left forearm. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The stabbing suspect was described as a Hispanic man about 30 years old, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, wearing a dark-colored hat, a white T-shirt and gray shorts. He was last seen armed with a knife.

The Oxnard Police Department continues to encourage residents to be partners in public safety as part of the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative.
